Outside of the comics I started thinking about younger readers and what would be the best way to introduce them to the Expanded Universe. I read the Thrawn Trilogy when I was 13 so I believe it's suitable for young readers but I will admit there's a few other picks that'd work just as well.
If they're a fan of the prequels then they need to check out this amazing series that Dave Wolverton kicked off and Jude Watson ran all the way with back in the day.
Jedi Apprentice tells the story of young Obi Wan and his path to becoming a Jedi under the tutorship of Qui Gon Jinn. I read this in college and admit that the series blew me away. I loved it so much I created a homemade t-shirt of it and would wear it all the time.
A great way for a young reader to start their journey through the expanded universe.
I have one final pick I'll give you tomorrow.
