Alek, later known as Darth Malak, was born on the planet Quelii. As a child, Alek showed strong Force sensitivity, leading to his recruitment into the Jedi Order. Under the tutelage of Jedi Masters, he trained diligently alongside Revan, another promising Jedi student with whom he developed a close friendship.
Alek and Revan became increasingly concerned with the Jedi Council's reluctance to intervene in the Mandalorian Wars. Defying the Council's orders, Alek (now taking the name Malak) and Revan rallied a faction of Jedi to fight against the Mandalorians. During the conflict, Malak became Revan's closest ally and second-in-command, gaining a reputation as a fearless and skilled warrior.
After the Mandalorian Wars, Revan and Malak ventured into the Unknown Regions, where they encountered the Sith Emperor Vitiate. Under the Emperor's influence, they fell to the dark side, adopting the Sith titles of Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Returning to known space, they established a new Sith Empire, with Revan as the Dark Lord and Malak as his apprentice.
Malak's ambition and desire for power eventually led him to betray Revan. During a confrontation with the Jedi, Malak ordered his forces to fire on Revan's ship, hoping to eliminate his former master. Revan survived but was captured by the Jedi and reprogrammed to serve the Republic. With Revan out of the picture, Malak declared himself the new Dark Lord of the Sith.
As the Dark Lord, Malak launched a brutal campaign against the Galactic Republic, utilizing the Star Forge, an ancient and powerful space station capable of producing vast fleets. Ruthless tactics and the destruction of entire worlds marked his reign. Malak's methods were uncompromising, driven by a desire to crush the Republic and establish Sith dominance.
Malak's downfall began when the reprogrammed Revan, now a Jedi once more, embarked on a quest to stop him. Revan gathered allies and sought to dismantle Malak's forces. The two former friends and allies faced each other in a final battle aboard the Star Forge. Despite Malak's formidable power and determination, Revan ultimately defeated him.
Darth Malak's legacy is a complex one. He is remembered as a mighty and ambitious Sith Lord who significantly shaped the galaxy during the Old Republic era. His fall from grace, betrayal of Revan, and eventual defeat are cautionary tales of the corrupting influence of the dark side and the destructive nature of ambition unchecked by wisdom and compassion.
