The planet was home to the Followers of Palawa, an ancient Force organization that developed the martial art known as Teras Kasi. Sometime prior to the First Great Schism of 24,500 BBY, the Jedi Order came in conflict with the Followers of Palawa, forcing them to flee Bunduki. In their absence, the Epicanthix inhabited the planet, establishing the planetary capitol, Aslaja.

Home to the near-human Epicanthix species, Panatha is a jungle world locally known for its panathan flower. It is believed the Epicanthix were a slight evolutionary deviation from mainline humans, as part of a lost colony by early Republic exploreres, though this has not been confirmed. Come the time of the Galactic War (3,643-3,636 BBY) between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, the Epicanthix established Lorvian City as the planetary capital of Panatha.
