Touring the Galaxy: Calamari Sector

Buchich System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Buchich

Buchich was a minor world in the sector, utilized by the Quarren as a mining colony.

Calamari System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: Daca

· Orbits:

o Mol Luxa

o Dac

§ Dac’s Moon

o Iceberg I

§ one unnamed moon/satellite

o Iceberg II

o Mon Eron

§ two unnamed moons/satellites

o Sep Elopon

§ 32 unnamed moons/satellites

o Iceberg III

o Iceberg IV

All but two of the planets were inhabited, with Mol Luxa being a barren world, Iceberg I-IV being frozen worlds, and Sep Elopon being a gas giant. Mon Eron was colonized by the Mon Calamari around 4,400 BBY, terraforming the planet’s oceans to meet their needs.

Dac, also known as Mon Calamari and Mon Cala, was primarily an aquatic world with island archipelagos littering the ocean-scape. Home to four amphibious species – the Mon Calamari, Quarren, Whaladon, and Amphi-Hydrus – of sentient sea mammals, Dac has played a central role in galactic affairs despite being at the edge of known space.

In 4,500 BBY, war broke out between the two primary Dac species, the Mon Calamari and Quarren, resulting in the near extinction of the Quarren. Some Quarren fled to nearby systems, while most that survived were raised as Mon Calamari. A few centuries later, around 4,166 BBY, Dac was discovered by Republic scouts, though the system did not join the galactic government until sometime later.

Come the Clone Wars, Dac was engulfed in civil conflict, with the Quarren and some Mon Calamari siding with the Separatists, while most remained loyal to the Republic. Toward the end of the war, the Separatists elements had been eradicated; however, the planet was subjugated by the Empire, with help from the Quarren, and the Mon Calamari reduced to Imperial slaves.

Dac would regain independence during the Galactic Civil War, gaining allegiance of the Quarren after several cities were razed by the Empire, driving Imperial forces from the system. Dac would become an instrumental member of the Rebel Alliance and one of the founding members of the New Republic, despite being the target of multiple devastating Imperial attacks.

During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, Dac became the new capital following the sacking of Coruscant and the reconstitution of the New Republic into the Galactic Alliance. Dac remained in the Galactic Alliance until the Sith-Imperial War, when the planet was conquered by Darth Krayt’s Sith Empire.

Though occupied by Imperial forces led by Quarren, the Mon Calamari continued to support the Galactic Alliance secretly, providing them with key information about the planet’s vast shipyards. Alliance forces were able to destroy most of the shipyards; however, one-tenth of the Mon Calamari were executed in Krayt’s retaliatory genocide.

As part of a “final solution,” the Sith poisoned the ocean of Dac, leading to the continued genocide of the planet’s inhabitants. In the wake of the Sith expulsion, only about 20% survived and were forced to flee the plagued world. With the fall of the Sith Empire, some Quarren and Mon Calamari attempted to return to renew Dac, only to be enslaved by a pirate syndicate controlled by a rogue Sith Lord but were liberated in 138 ABY by Galactic Triumvirate forces. Both Quarren and Mon Calamari resumed membership in the new galactic federation.

Damendine System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Damendine

Damendine was a remote world that saw little galactic traffic.

Eridicon System (T-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Eridicon IV

Eridicon IV was a remote world that saw little galactic traffic.

Hinakuu System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Hinakuu

Hinakuu was a minor Mon Calamari colony world by the time of 4,200 BBY.

Kamdon System (U-7)

· Sun/Star: Kamdon

· Orbits:

o Talas

o unnamed planet

Talas was a barren, volcanic world colonized by Quarren. The second planet in the system, presumably also a minor colony of Quarren, was a temperate world of forests and rolling plains, separated by vast oceans.

Krinemonen System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Krinemonen

§ Krinemonen III

A gas giant, Krinemonen’s satellite, Krinemonen III was an aquatic world that housed many amphibious species’ populations, primarily Mon Calamari. During the Galactic Civil War, the moon supported the Rebel Alliance.

Mantan System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Mantan

Mantan was a minor Mon Calamari colony world by the time of 4,200 BBY.

Minntooine System (T-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Minntooine

Inhabited as a Quarren colony world by 4,200 BBY, Minntooine would join the CIS as a Separatist-aligned world at least four millennium later during the Clone Wars.

New Heurkea System (T-6)

· Sun/Star: New Heurkea

· Orbits: none

An empty system acting as a waypoint along a regional trade route, New Heurkea was named after a city on Dac.

Pammant System (T-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Pammant

Settled by Quarren colonists around 4,166 BBY, Pammant served as a starship construction world for the Quarren aligned with the Separatists during the Clone Wars. However, the planet was devastated with radiation after an orbital battle caused a starship to inadvertently jump to hyperdrive, colliding with the planet.

Pinperu System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: Pinperu

· Orbits: none

Pinperu was an empty system acting as a waypoint along a regional trade route.

Poseidenna System (U-7)

· Sun/Star: Poseidenna

· Orbits: none

Poseidenna was an empty system that acted as the terminus waypoint of a regional trade route.

Ruisto System (U-6)

· Sun/Star: unnamed

· Orbits:

o Ruisto

Ruisto was the first Mon Calamari colony world, settled by 4,200 BBY. Shortly thereafter, in 4,166 BBY, Ruisto was the site of the first contact between Mon Calamari and Republic scouts. Ruisto remained a Mon Calamari world until 2 ABY, when Imperial forces bombarded the planet during the Galactic Civil War, killing all life.
