· Orbits:
o Fiddanl
o Stroiketcy
o Yavin Prime
§ 26 named moons/satellites (Yavin 1-26)
A barren, scorched world, Fiddanl was found to be rich in alloys and ores, however, its proximity to its star and its remote position in the sector, made the planet unattractive to mining operations. Likewise, the waterworld Stroiketcy was also rich in resources, being utilized as a mining colony by the Yuuzhan Vong during their invasion of the galaxy.
Though a gas giant, Yavin Prime housed many orbiting space stations during its history. Originally conquered by the Rakatan early in the galaxy’s history, Yavin remained in isolation for millennia until it was utilized as a gem mining location circa 4,000 BBY, shifting hands many times throughout galactic history, ultimately coming under Yuuzhan Vong control in 26 ABY.
Yavin 8 was one of three habitable moons of Yavin Prime. It was an arid and cold alpine world, home to the amphibious mermaid Melodie species of humanoids. Due to its remote location in the orbit around its planet, Yavin 8 was discovered by the Sith in 3,997 BBY but record of the discovery was lost when the Sith race went extinct years later. Yavin 8 was eventually re-discovered by the Jedi in 22 ABY while establishing their Jedi praxeum.
Another habitable moon, Yavin 13, was the home of the rodent-like Gerbs, and serpent-like Slith species. The moon was hot and humid, with swaths of deserts, marshy grasslands, and shallow seas. The moon remained neutral through most of galactic history, until all life was wiped out by the Yuuzhan Vong in 26 ABY.
The last habitable moon was Yavin 4, a lush world of dense swamps and rainforests. Yavin 4 was colonized by the Sith following their defeat in the Great Hyperspace War in 5,000 BBY. Over the next thousand years, the Sith would slowly corrupt the planet, making it a dark side nexus. However, by the end of the Great Sith War, circa 3,996 BBY, the Sith had been eradicated from the planet and the Jedi spent decades terraforming and purging the planet of its dark side influence.
Roughly three centuries later, the Force sect Order of Revan took over the moon, hoping to gain insight from the tomb of the Sith Lord Exar Kun. By this time the Jedi city was abandoned after the successful restoration of Yavin 4. The moon was re-discovered roughly five centuries before the collapse of the Republic. The Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance utilized the ancient Sith temples as their base, destroying the infamous Death Star before being driven offworld.
Years later, the Jedi would rediscover the forgotten Jedi city and establish the first praxeum of the New Jedi Order on the moon. Yavin 4 was the site of multiple battles during the Galactic Civil War, the moon ultimately left uninhabited after the Yuuzhan Vong were forced from the moon and their terraforming operations halted.
