With the rise of the Rakatan tens of thousands of years before the Galactic Civil War, the Gree all but disappeared from galactic affairs, abandoning Asation.
Eons later, in 3,638 BBY during the Galactic War, Sith Dread Lords activated the hypergate on Asation, unleashing a monstrocity from beyond. The planet would be forgotten, again, until the Galactic Civil War when the world was nominally under Imperial rule.

Eschewing their technological prowess, the Gree lost touch with their knowledge and historical roots, shrouding themselves in mystery, and allowing their world to turn to wastelands. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Gree were seen as nothing more than an enigmatic, backward people, receiving near autonomy by the Empire.
